Last quarter, WRD faculty members Barbara Tilley and Tricia Hermes were honored by receiving the Woman of Spirit and Action Award, granted by the DePaul University Women’s Network. In the spirit of St. Louise de Marillac who demonstrated a commitment to service, this award recognizes women who consistently contribute to the growth and development of others at DePaul.
Barbara Tilley was nominated for the award by a student who writes the following about her former instructor:
Professor Tilley gives a lot to her students and to this university in terms of her time, effort, and love for what she does. She is always willing to go the extra mile for her students, and she is never willing to let them just sit and struggle. She knows what it means to be able to take the well-deserved and very necessary moments to yourself to make sure you are able to confidently move through stress. She is invested in the success of her peers and her students.
Fellow WRD faculty member Amy Hornat-Kaval nominated Tricia Hermes and writes this:
Her commitment to her students, staff, and faculty members is extraordinary. She is compassionate, kind, and selfless in her devotion to the DePaul community. Tricia is generous with her time and energy for anyone who needs it. Her example inspires us all.
If you happen see either of the award winners, be sure to congratulate these two wonderful women for receiving a much-deserved award!
