Three Finals Week Survival Tips

Ready or not, finals week is here. Crunch time. Stress is always high and motivation can be low. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all of the work you have to get done. Here are three tips to help you write those papers and stay sane. Good luck this week!

1. Download this App

When you sit down to write a paper, do you find yourself spending more time updating your Pinterest board, trolling Tumblr, or perusing Facebook rather than actually writing? Consider downloading Write or Die, a free app designed to help combat procrastination.

How it works: 1) Set a time frame and word count goal 2) Start writing your paper. If you stop typing for more than a few seconds to go check your email or waste time on Twitter, reminders will start popping up on your screen accompanied by a high-pitched noise. The only way to make them stop? Start writing again. Click here for other helpful writing apps.

2. Use the Library

The UCWbL and Richardson Library have joined forces to help you finish those final papers. Tutors will be available Monday, March 18 (that’s tonight) from 7pm to 12am in the Richardson Library Outpost for the Long Night Against Procrastination. Free coffee available while it lasts!

The Richardson Library will be open 24 hrs/day during finals week (March 18-21).

3. Visit The Ray

It’s tempting to forgo exercise in lieu of more writing and study time. As an extra incentive to visit the gym during finals week, The Ray is offering some fun events you don’t want to miss.
