WRD Internship Opportunities

WRD undergraduate and graduate students can explore a variety of worthwhile internships that they can use to earn academic credit and, more importantly, gain experience and networking opportunities in their field of interest. To help you get started with your search, we rounded up a list of relevant internships for WRD students, including some opportunities through the university.

Administrative & Development Internship
Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art

The non-profit art museum Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outside Art is currently seeking an unpaid Administrative and Development intern. Some of the responsibilities include identifying grant and funding opportunities, coordinating workshops and public events, and preparing presentations and agendas for board meetings. Community Partner Internship
Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning

The Steans Center offers Community Partner Internships for undergraduate and graduate students. These highly competitive paid internships pair DePaul students with nonprofit community organizations throughout Chicago. Previous positions have included administrative roles, adult literacy (ESL) work, youth development, and marketing/public relations. Applications are considered on a rolling basis and available on the Campus Job Board.

Content Internship
Neighborhoods.com

Chicago-based real estate website neighborhoods.com and its sister website 55places.com are hiring paid content interns. Roles and responsibilities include writing blog posts and community overviews, editing content, and researching and interpreting real estate trends. Interns work 15-25 hours/week on the Content & Marketing Team. Applications are immediately considered.

Content/Editorial Internship
Do312

With event listings for concerts, festivals, and cultural events across Chicago, Do312 connects residents to some of the best things to do across the Windy City. Unpaid content & editorial interns help with content entry, website maintenance, and creating lists of events and activities. Interns, who should be detail oriented, organized, and “in the know,” gain live promotional event experience and industry networking opportunities. Graduate Health Internship
Office of Health Promotion & Wellness

Beginning this summer, the paid Graduate Health Intern for the Office of Health Promotion & Wellness will create a strategic communications and marketing plan for the department. With a focus on social media, print communications, and marketing campaigns, the intern will coordinate event promotions, design marketing materials, and post on social media. Literacy Internship
Open Books

With literacy programs and book grants, the nonprofit organization Open Books connects local readers to literacy experiences and educational opportunities. Unpaid literacy interns facilitate the day-to-day operations of Open Books’ literacy programs, working directly with Chicago youth by leading programs and workshops, developing new curricula, and garnering a behind-the-scenes look at a literacy nonprofit organization. Summer Internship
Northwestern University Press

As a nonprofit book publisher of approximately 60 titles each year, Northwestern University Press seeks undergraduate students for unpaid summer internships in two internship tracks. The first track, Acquisition/Sales and Marketing, provides experience with publication workflow, publishing contracts, and marketing. The second track, Editorial, Design, and Production, offers opportunities to learn about editing, proofreading, and design.
